CHAPTER 4 MATH

This unit we have learned about slopes. This was a new experience for me.

I have learned how to calculate a slope using the rise over run technique. It works like this. You take 2 points on a graph, for example (2,5) (5, 8) and you place them like this.
This gives you the slope (m) of the line or in the case of the example, 1.
The slope can be used to find a line using this equation.

In this equation y= the # of the y axis you're using/looking for,
m is the slope we found earlier,
x is the number of the x axis you're using/looking for,
and b is the y intercept or where the line crosses the y axis.

In our example it would go like this
y=1x+ 3*
*found by putting coordinates on the board and extending lines.

With this equation, I can now find any y or x on my graph.
5 =1x + 3 x=2 if y= 5
y =1*4 + 3 y=7 if x=4

This helps you find any line semi easily.

The end of chapter project was the stained glass project.

In the project, we drew lines that were positive, negative, parallel, perpendicular, 0 in slope or undefined. After having calculated the lines, we painted over the space in between the lines to give the project a stained glass look.

I have learned a lot in this unit and for that I have to thank Mrs. Roth.

Science reflection

What I have learned. This unit I have learned about reproduction. I have learned the types of reproduction or fragmentation, Binary fission, FertilizationSpore formation. This helps me understand better multi celled organism reproduce and shows me the diversity of reproduction. We also learn about the stages of mitosis or prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. This shows me how single celled organisms reproduce, giving me a greater understanding of our world.

The big challenge was that I missed 4 days, so I need to catch up what I will do is ask my teachers for help they can reteach me what I have missed in extra help. I will also use my weekend to do all the work I missed in class. I think that with a little effort and help from my teachers and parents I will be able to catch up by next week.

What we have learned in class applies to the real world because biology everything from animals to bacterias even humans. A great example of biology in the real world is the new use of stem cells. Now scientists can create new body parts from hearts to hand to skin this new discovery is saving millions of lives every year. Biology is the key to stoping any disease and saving lives.

math reflection

In this unit we studied solving solving equation. I learn lots of new things and refreshed the terms in my head. At the beginning I could not remember any of the terms. To remember I used common parts of those equations. For example, I said multiplicative inverters and additive invert always have a number going over the equality sign. I remember that associate and communicative have been often together because before you, associate you need to communicate. All though This unit was hard I think I did well because of the help of my parents. If I was going to take this class again, I would ask the teacher to explain more because I was lost in the homework if it was not for my dad. It would have been better to have focused on in class learning than on the homework to learn.

I personally did not enjoy the great equation race because it was to me not really useful. I would have preferred in class learning then the G.E.R because personally I did not have an easy time whit this unit and I think that a teacher's help would have been appreciated I could not come in extra help because of tutoring). But there was a good side to the G.E.R it helps everyone find their place in the group and participate.

This unit all though hard was fun and I think that I did good. The only suggestions I would make is more in class learning.
