This unit we have learned about slopes. This was a new experience for me.
I have learned how to calculate a slope using the rise over run technique. It works like this. You take 2 points on a graph, for example (2,5) (5, 8) and you place them like this.
This gives you the slope (m) of the line or in the case of the example, 1.
The slope can be used to find a line using this equation.
In this equation y= the # of the y axis you're using/looking for,
In our example it would go like this
y=1x+ 3*
*found by putting coordinates on the board and extending lines.
With this equation, I can now find any y or x on my graph.
5 =1x + 3 x=2 if y= 5
This helps you find any line semi easily.
The end of chapter project was the stained glass project.
In the project, we drew lines that were positive, negative, parallel, perpendicular, 0 in slope or undefined. After having calculated the lines, we painted over the space in between the lines to give the project a stained glass look.
I have learned a lot in this unit and for that I have to thank Mrs. Roth.
